January is Mental Wellness Month, and at Global Perinatal Services (GPS), we want to encourage everyone to take small but meaningful steps toward prioritizing mental well-being. Here are a few tips to foster mental wellness this month:
Practice Mindfulness: Spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breathing or engaging in meditation to reduce stress and improve clarity.
Stay Active: Physical activity, even a short walk, can boost your mood and enhance overall mental health.
Connect with Loved Ones: Sharing your feelings with someone you trust can help alleviate emotional burdens and foster deeper connections.
Set Boundaries: Protect your energy by saying no to activities or obligations that feel overwhelming.
Seek Professional Support: Remember, it’s okay to ask for help when you need it.
At GPS, we are proud to be the first nonprofit in our state to provide free mental health services to both our clients and staff. We understand the profound impact that mental health has on every stage of the perinatal journey, from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond.
In partnership with And Still We Rise, we are committed to addressing the mental health needs of Black, immigrant, and refugee families who often face systemic barriers to care. Our trauma-informed and culturally competent approach ensures that every individual feels seen, heard, and supported.
Our free mental health services include:
Counseling for Clients and Families: Personalized sessions to navigate the emotional challenges of parenting, healing, and growth.
Staff Support and Wellness Programs: Prioritizing the mental health of our dedicated team, ensuring they can provide the best care while caring for themselves.
Through our free mental health services, we aim to empower individuals and families to thrive, even in the face of challenges.
By offering these services at no cost, GPS is taking a critical step toward breaking the cycle of disparities and fostering healthier, stronger communities.
Together, we rise.
