Rahil’s Mother

“I had the pleasure working with Global prenatal services for the delivery of our first child. We are parents who have just immigrated to this country and we were not familiar with the US medical system, on the other hand this was our first child and we were very worried, but during labor, our birth doula provided us the best emotional and physical support. I have participated in lactation support which conducted by GPS and also, they did an ASQ with my little one and I am so happy that my daughter is reaching her developmental milestone. There is nothing I could do to show just how much we appreciated support we received from GPS. THANK YOU!”

Community-Based Doula Client

“At that time I did not know what doula mean[t]... then I get to meet a friend of mine that [had] a doula [and] she told me about a Doula and [I was] like, "how does this work?" I have a lot of sisters and brothers. When I ask them, they're like, "Someone that's coming and watching you. We [are] all here for you. Why do you need some doula? You know you don't need that service, [they are] making money on you, you don't really need that. That's not the community." I'm like, "I don't think so. You know, they're just telling me that they're going to help. So let me try it on." And I was the first one coming from a big family, like 17 kids… I was the only one that had a doula.”

Birth Doula Client

The anesthesia went bad I started throwing up. And this is where it got very vulnerable, where [the doula] was cleaning up my throw up with the bag. I had thrown up on my hijab and I didn't bring an extra one…[The doula] called her mom and told her ‘go to the store and buy me [a hijab] and bring it to me.' And her mom came back and brought me three. And she's like ‘Here are three for the three days that you're going to stay here.’ And her mom was really far, like 45 minutes away. She stopped doing what she was doing and went to go buy them. She came to the hospital and she gave [them] to me. It was very, very sweet.”

Birth Doula Cleint

“I always support doulas and I love them. As a woman minority [we] need support from outside our families. Someone who can tell us what to do, talk to us so we can express how we are feeling. Because there are a lot of women with issues on their minds but they don't know what to do.”

About Our Services

“Because GPS is culturally relevant they provide you with the things that you wouldn't have gotten from a mainstream perinatal service.”

“GPS talks to you about services, makes referrals - you have someone [who knows] your culture. It’s more service because they know exactly what you need to support you.”
